My Ypsilanti Township journey began as a West Willow Elementary second grader in 1976. The school is no longer there but the education, values, and passion for Ypsi it inspired never left me.

As a community health worker and organizer at Washtenaw County Health Department for over seven years, I have been dedicated to reducing health disparities and improving the well-being of the residents in my hometown of Ypsilanti Township. I assist people in their homes, at community events, and clinic settings, providing health education, referrals, and support, especially during the pandemic.

I also leverage my TESOL certification and my experience of teaching in China for eight years to create and implement programs and social activities that foster community building, cultural diversity, and individual empowerment. Some of these include cooking classes, health fairs, town halls, video podcasts, and voter registration. Additionally, I serve as an executive board member of Avalon Housing, a nonprofit organization that provides affordable and supportive housing for people with low incomes and mental health challenges. My passion is to help Ypsilanti Township thrive and grow, honoring its rich history and preparing for its bright future.
